To start our ThermoPro TP20 review, we’ll go over all the features it brings to the table. First, the most important thing about the device: the probes. The TP20 COMES with dual probe monitors that are not just for food, but also for your oven, grill and smoker. Standard practice for using the dual probe feature is to insert one into the food and the other into the grill. This is also very beneficial if you are concerned about fluctuating temperatures.

This ThermoPro TP20 digital wireless meat thermometer offers hands-free monitoring. This means YOU can monitor the temperature of your food, oven, grill or smoker from a comfortable 300 feet away. Imagine you are entertaining guests but you haven’t finished cooking yet. This way you don’t have to leave your visitors every time you prepare your food.

It also comes with USDA temperature presets. You can never be too careful and food poisoning is easy to prevent. You have a thermometer with 9 kinds of temperature presets for your favorite meat.

In addition, the TP20 thermometer also offers the possibility of testing the degree of doneness of the cooked food and of course also meets USDA standards. An experienced cook? Don’t worry, the presets can be modified and programmed to your liking with the “Program” settings, quite a flexible and accommodating device, isn’t it?

Meat presets include beef, veal, poultry, chicken, pork, fish, and lamb. Their flavor levels would be rare, medium, medium rare, medium good, and of course well done.

In addition to the presets, the TP20 thermometer also has a sufficiently large and easy-to-read LCD display. Durable buttons and an easy-to-grip design. It has an auto shut-off feature to save battery and a built-in alarm that notifies you as soon as the cooking process is complete.

It’s likely an update to the announced TP15 range. Check out our ThermoPro TP15 review .

Design and Construction

Let’s talk a little more about the dual probe as it is the smallest part of your TP20 thermometer. The probes are made of stainless steel, and as we all know, steel conducts and retains heat quite well.

It is a reduced tip design for more accurate and precise temperature measurement. The probe cables can withstand a maximum of 716 degrees F. Not only that, the 40-inch cable is made of more stainless steel. The probes are also rust and corrosion resistant, making them very easy to clean and maintain.

The TP20 thermometer’s receiver and emitter are encased in bright orange rubber to keep your hands from slipping while multitasking.

Configuration and Use

Set up your ThemePro TP 20 with ease. It requires no operation or tedious configuration steps. The large LCD screen ensures both food and oven temperature are displayed, as well as the timer for added convenience. This ensures that no matter what happens, you’re still in full control of everything. This thermometer also has a backlight which would be useful in low light conditions.

It’s pretty basic and the included manual is user-friendly enough to tell everything you need to know to use it efficiently. The backlight makes the screen easy to see in case you are in a low-light situation.

Precision and Performance

When buying a meat thermometer you are looking for accuracy, because what good is a thermometer if it isn’t one? Luckily, this TP20 thermometer is pretty accurate. As mentioned it has USDA approved temperatures which is one of the reasons it is so accurate and not only it is also very consistent which is a testament to the quality of its construction.

ThermoPro advertises its accuracy as plus or minus 1.8 degrees F, and if you ask us that’s pretty decent. When it comes to range, it’s also pretty much within reach, maybe not exactly 300 feet, but pretty close to what it claims to be.

As said, the TP20 thermometer also has an alarm and when it sounds the remote will turn bright orange and visibly flash to ensure you’re notified once it’s all over. The auto shut-off feature is also a lifesaver to ensure your batteries have an efficient lifespan. It is powered by four AAA batteries and will automatically turn off if not used for 30 minutes, which is handy if you leave it running.

Don’t worry, the device doesn’t drain the battery, but be aware that cooking large cuts of meat for about 12 hours at a time, for example, will drain it faster compared to normal cooking of small cuts of meat.

The TP20 thermometer can also be used for vegetables and even desserts and pizzas, making it a super versatile device.

Gone are the days when you had to bend down and burn your face(with steam) or your hands to taste your food. It’s in the name of a security device and people will appreciate how it notifies them instantly when the food is ready, not to mention that it’s quite predictable and versatile.

Final Verdict

The combination of features and conviction that the ThermoPro TP20 thermometer brings to the table is simply unbeatable. With the presets, convenient selection and respectable price, it’s often a steal. If you tend to multitask often or tend to forget that you are cooking something then this is the product for you.

Furthermore, our busy and fast-paced lives require more advanced solutions.
